- "Any member in good standing can sponsor one prospective member (1 at any one time) by speaking to the Archon."
- "Sponsored members are put 'On Watch' for 6 months or 4 local events (whichever is a longer duration). At this time, House Members should try to meet the prospective member."
- "After 6 months or 4 local events all House members take an anonymous vote (paper ballot). Yay's and Nay's are counted for the prospective member."

"Sable Dawn is NOT about trying to 'have a huge household', or to be 'cool' or 'eliteist', it's a group of friends who are commited to Service within our local SCA group. If you are a Service minded gentle who likes the ideals of Sable Dawn and you find that you like hanging out with members of the household, speak to one of them about the idea of being put On Watch. Failing that, speak to the Archon."
